This website is meant to clear up any confusion surrounding the description, requirements, and policies regarding distance and online learning. It should also help those who assign courses to faculty, or classify courses for student registration. Hopefully, it will explain the needs, issues, requirements and responsibilities of online teaching to college deans, department chairs, and faculty as well. It will also streamline the process faculty must follow to request an online course, receive assistance from distance learning staff, and deliver the course to students.

Compliance Documentation

The UTSA Center for Distance Learning & Academic Technology has been tasked by the University and Faculty Senate to document compliance with the “Principles of Good Practice for Academic Degree and Certificate Programs and Credit Courses Offered Electronically”.  The following definitions and policies have been established by the Center to insure compliance with these principles.

According to the Commission on Colleges, "Institutions must ensure that their distance education courses and programs comply with the Principles of Accreditation (Footnote 2)."
