Wimba Live Classroom
In addition to Blackboard, your Continuation of Instruction Plan should explain how you will deliver your class information (or lecture) using one or more of the additional technologies that exist within Blackboard, or can be used outside of Blackboard.
Wimba Classroom is a virtual classroom environment with robust features that include audio, video, application sharing and content display. You can lecture the same way you do now, talking with your powerpoint slides or sharing an application on your desktop. If you add a web-cam, students can see you while you present! This can be done "live" or you can record the lecture for later viewing as a downloadable MP3, which Wimba recommends.
Wimba has a disaster Preparedness webpage at http://www.wimba.com/services/admin/h1n1
We like Wimba because they support their product 24/7/365. You and your sturdents will have support directly from the company whenever you need it!

Using Wimba Live Classroom in Blackboard to Present your Lectures Online
It is very simple to add a link to a virtual classroom because Wimba Classroom is integrated with Blackboard. To view a tutorial on how to add a link to a classroom, click on the hyperlink below.
Using Wimba Live Classroom
If you are not using the Blackboard system, it is possible for us to set up an online classroom for you. From now until October 30 we will be taking requests to add "virtual classrooms." The students will access these classrooms via a hyperlink that you will send via email - or - they can view the archived lecture at any time. They can even view it on a portable device like an iPod. To request a Wimba Live Classroom, contact id2@utsa.edu and request a Wimba Live Classroom. Please provide the course title and CRN with your request.
If you would like to preview Wimba, you are welcome to walk-in to the Instructional Design & Development Studio (MS3.02.28B) Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. (Available through the month of October.)
